In a correction to the latest post the juvenile suspect arrested for attempted murder is being charged as an adult due to age (17) and the seriousness of the charge. Although the suspect is a juvenile they will be held at the Sumter County Sheriff's Office Detention Center pending a bond hearing. This is due to the Raise the Age law change which was passed in 2016 which mandates that although a juvenile, at the age of 17 must be charged as an adult for certain offenses.
